To bring you up to speed, the following week we played in Bellingham and Mill Creek. The gig in Bham was another visit to the towns shadiest college bar "the Rogue". Even in being the D.D that night having to listen to the guys sing "Lean On Me" all the way home, I had a pretty good time. The show in Mill Creek (The Jet Bar) was on of the best we had played. Steve, the guy that owns the place used to own a bar called the Jet Deck a little farther north. He lost his lease with that place, but it ended up working in his favor. The old bar was located in an air field and if you'd never been there before, it was hard as hell to find. This new place was much bigger and located right on a major intersection in Mill Creek. The place was packed. Really fun show and we look forward to going back. Our next set of gigs happened the following weekend in Spokane and Coeur D'Alene, ID. Spokane has changed a bit. The old crew that ran the Blue Spark isn't there anymore and the bar owner the last two times I can remember has gotten retardedly drunk and bent my ear about how we weren't supposed to play any cover songs... it was a 3 hour show... who the hell doesn't play covers???? Coeur D'Alene was pretty cool. We'd never played there before and we made a few new friends. Altogether pretty low key. Well, that's it for now. We'll be playing again in Seattle this coming July!

January 1, 2005

This week has been a lot of fun. Its been six months since we all played together and after a single rehearsal it felt like I never left town. This whole week I've been driving Shelly (our bus) as my commuting vehicle. Parking is a bitch, but I've learned to deal with it. Lol, when my father took me to take her out of storage, he backed up to the bus and had the tailgate to his SUV wide open so I could unload a couple batteries. I fired Shelly up and a huge plume of black smoke shot directly into the back of his car... The look he gave me was priceless. Friday's show at the Tractor sold out, and the show at Jazzbones went off really well too. We really couldn't hope for anything more. Thanks to all of you for hangin out with us this weekend. Its good to be back! - Darren

March 20th, 2008

My apologies for not bringing anyone up to date in a while. Things have slowed down a bit in the last year, and... well... we really suck at keeping up our journal. :o) Before I (Darren) headed east to Boston over a year ago, we performed a couple shows at the famous Crocodile Cafe in downtown Seattle (which sadly closed in December of 07). If you aren't familiar with the Croc, it's been a hot spot where many national touring acts have performed including Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Indigo Girls, (the list is huge). We are "very" honored to have played there. The first night we played there, the sound man told us he records every show that comes through the door and offered us the tracks from our set. We felt it was a great opportunity to put together a live CD, which we finally finished a couple months ago. Thanks to Will wakefield for all the time he spent mixing down this record and also Angelo Hilton for an incredible job designing the artwork. The new live disc is up for grabs at CDBaby.com and should be on iTunes in the next couple months. Other than that, this last year or so we've all kept ourselves busy doing other things. Dave, Greg, and Travis have been gigging around Seattle with other bands. Greg has also become the new booking guy at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard, WA. I've been busking in the subways and doing a few pub gigs here in Boston. I also picked up a job with the pricing team at Macys. Friday is my last day on the job before I head back to Sea-town for a bunch of gigs in the NW. If any of my co-workers are reading this, I've had a blast working with y'all! You guys have been cool as hell. I'm sure there's gonna be a lot going on starting this weekend. We'll post another journal entry soon. I can't wait to see everyone on the west side. I've really missed you all a lot. TTYL Darren

Feb 12th - Feb 24th 07

The rest of the trip had a few rough spots. We played a small acoustic set at a bar in Santa Fe, then made our way towards Tucson. We had a lot of luck with our bus, Shelly, so far this whole trip. But at about 1AM, just after we crossed into Arizona, she started shaking violently. Turned out, all the lugs on one of the wheels completely sheered off. We were lucky the wheel didn't bounce off into the hills! We were picked up and taken to a mechanic near Gallup, NM. Thats where we stayed for nearly 3 days. The mechanic could have had us on our way earlier but because of a mix-up in the part numbers, he kept having to put us off. We were going insane in that town. There was nothing to do, the best place to eat at was McDonalds, and most of the people we ran into were either really creepy or just plain out there. Case in point, Dave and Travis went to McDonalds for lunch and some dude tried to order a bucket of chicken... By the time we finally got out of that butthole town, we had already missed one show at the Frog & Firkin. We at least made it to the second one and had a great time. Thanks to Jodee and her crew for coming again. Also want to give a shout to Babs, Johnathan and the rest of the Frog. We look forward to seeing you all every time we come out. From Tucson we went to Tempe and spent a couple days hangin with our friends Sarah, Brittney & Karen. One of the nights, we went all out and had a huge barbecue at Brits house. We also did a great gig in town with the Shawn Johnson band. The rest of the trip took us from San Diego up the California Coast. We had to bail on the very last show in Truckee, CA because of a snow storm up in the pass. Minus the few bumps in the road, it was a great trip overall. Hope everyones doing well. Gotta roll! TTYL

Feb 3rd - Feb 10th, 07

The next week took us through Southern Wyoming and parts of Colorado. We headed off to Laramie at this place call The Buckhorn. This will be the second time we've played there. Total redneck bar. The place is full of game heads mounted all over every wall. It's almost impossible to avoid getting cornered by obnoxious old drunks heckling you and talking about senseless crap you can't understand. The energy picked up as the college kids came in and it proved to be a badass show. We then drove to Denver and met up with an old friend of Veeda's named Kerrie who put us up for a couple days (very much appreciated). We managed to catch the Super Bowl the day we drove in (what the hell was that pre-game show about?) and Veeda made us all a killer spread of Iranian food. After a couple days of down time, we headed off to The Goat in Keystone. There was a snowboarding convention or something goin on. We had a great time and after everyone left, we hung out with a couple of the staff members till about 6AM then crashed on the floor of the bar. The sound guy was cool as hell and made us all eggs & toast the next morning before we left. Vail really wasn't worth the travel so I won't bore you. No one showed up because of a Loverboy concert happening in town (Loverboy also foiled a show of ours in Corvallis, OR) We were pretty destroyed from the night before. My friend Sarah came which was really cool though. Things got back on track as soon as we hit Boulder. We rented a room and hit the town to promote the Foundry gig. At one point we stopped at a bar by the college and had a few drinks. We got Veeda pretty drunk and she was fricken hilarious. We finished off the Colorado stint at the Walnut Room in Denver where we met up with our old friend Justin King. You have to check out his band. It's incredible. Veeda had to fly back to Seattle the next day so we took her to the airport. It was a lot of fun having her along and we'll miss her. Before we end this journal entry, we also wanna give a shout out to our lovely friend Jessi Carr for putting us up in Denver again and the Trampolines. Take care everybody!

February 2nd, 2007

Salt Lake kicked ass. Royal bliss kindly brought us in on another show. They've been playing forever and really bring a crowd. After the gig, we ended up at an afterparty at one of the bandmates houses. None of us got a chance to eat before going on stage and we were starving. Darren tried to pet a dog at the party and it bit him in the face.

February 1st, 2007

We left the Pocatello Hollidome around 11am , headed for Ketchum to play our show at Whiskey Jacque's. Shelly's been running like a champ. Still hadn't found a truck wash for her dirty butt, been looking for one for a while.......filthy short bus tagged with band stickers screams "pull me over, I'm full of law breakin' hippies." The drive to Ketchum was smooth but cold....actually freezing. The bar was pretty cool....very rustic/lodge feeling with a large 4 point buck head mount above the bar....but in true Sun Valley fashion everything was very nice and shiny and clean...rich people. The show was decent. Interesting crowd.....some locals, some tourists, an overall pretty mellow mix. Veeda found herself in an awkward situation in the bathroom when she discovered a passed-out half naked girl on the toilet at 2:30am. She managed to help her get her pants on before passing her off to the bar staff so they could take care of her. The best part of the night, though, had to be the band house provided. It was straight out of the seventies including all the furnishings. Pretty sweet actually. The bedrooms were lined with bunk beds covered with those crazy mustard yellow fuzzy, staticky seventies blankets. It was just like the boys bedroom on The Brady Bunch. Totally fun digs, perfect for a band like us, although everyone was afraid to sleep under the sheets because we heard 2 Live Crew had just slept there a few days earlier. Good times though. We left a Bradbury Press cd on the fireplace mantle and headed for SLC.

January 31st, 2007

January 31st - Today is day 1 of another tour around the west. This time, were bringin our good friend Veeda along to help sell merch. We met her at a previous Croc show where we played with the band Cross Canadian Ragweed. At the last minute we decided to put in an order for some extra merch to sell on this tour (shirts, tanks, thongs, etc). The guy we placed the order with couldn't get ahold of any tank tops through his catalogue, so I made a run to Walmart to pick some up and delivered it to him. The guy is really cool and goofy as hell. To describe him; he's super excited, tall and skinny guy with glasses, big poofy hair and a perma-grin. His office which is located in the back of a dark alley looks like it was hit by a hurricane. At around midnight we picked up the shirts and headed out for Pocatello. We drove all night long passing the wheel off to each other as we got too tired to drive. At some point in the morning we stopped at some crusty trucker stop. Veeda went in to clean up. While brushing her teeth, some lady next to her took her teeth out of her mouth and started scrubbin them in the sink. I guess that's one way to take care of them. Another stop we made was at Dennys, where Greg ordered a broccoli cheese soup that stuck to your face like napalm. It was like eating a bowl of cheese whiz. We arrived in Pocatello in the early afternoon, hung out at a kickass hotel provided by the college (thanks Todd). The show went over pretty well. Met some cool folks, then went out with Todd to Applebees before heading back to the hotel turning in for the night.

January 27th, 2007

January 27th 07 - Since I came back to Seattle I've been working for a construction crew doing labor work (digging, lifting n all kinds grunt stuff). So far things have worked out well in spite of how worried I felt before I came back here. This lifestyle requires a lot of planning and the ability to roll with complications. This has gone way smoother than I expected. With that little bit of work, I'm set for the rest of the tour. This weekends shows were great. We did a gig in Bellingham on Friday and then Saturday we performed at the High Dive in Fremont (Seattle). The High Dive show was particularly fun. A crapload of our old friends came out including a bunch of Daves highschool buddies that Trav and I met long ago when we first started playing with the guy. After the Highdive closed up for the night, a ton of folks came back to the band house to party it up. As the night went on, the couches and beds were quickly being snatched up. I had to post up on the floor with my leather coat as a pillow and 2 towels for a blanket. I woke up the next morning to Daves old friends Cori and April knocking on the wall saying DAVE TAKE US HOME.... WAKE UP... WERE OLDER THAN YOU.... WAKE UP DAVE... If it would've been anyone else, I'm sure big D would've said "get bent" but he came out rubbing his eyes and took em home. The next time we play we'll be on the road doing a show in Pocatello, ID. (1st day of the tour) Looking forward to it

January 20th, 2007

January 20th, 07 - Welcome to another morning at the Royal Motor Inn (Moscow, ID). Interesting place. The bathroom usually has 1 towel (possibly used) and 6 washcloths (which end up becoming used as towels). The shower head is mounted to the wall so low, it practically comes to your belly button. If you dig earlier, you'll find a story about this place in the journal that involved a huge pack of people coming back to the hotel for an afterparty. Some of us decided to hit up the hotels sauna which was destroyed after we all went to sleep by a bunch of metalhead jacktards that followed us from the bar. Its funny, every time we go in, the lady who runs the joint doesn't remember who we are, but when we tell her were in a band, they always request a damage deposit and tell the story of how a band called The Bradbury Press fked up their sauna. I find it hard to believe worse stuff hasn't happened there. We all showered and headed for Spokane. It was a pretty relaxed day. We met up with our friend Elizabeth who we've known for a while now. She took us to a bar in her neighborhood called The Elk where we hung out till load in time. Although the show was still badass we were all pretty tired from the night before in Moscow. We heard through the grapevine that the Blue Spark may no longer be doing live music. We'll see how that goes... :o). We packed up and crashed for the night at our good friend Tina Danzigs pad. We woke up the next morning to a killer breakfast and some hot coffee... Thanks Tina and Tija. Bradbury Press loves you!

January 19th, 2007

January 19th, 07- Were all headed for Moscow, ID. I just got back to Seattle from Boston about 3 days ago (this is Darren by the way). Its fricken cold as hell in the bus right now. There's tons of snow outside and unfortunately Shelly's heater is busted. I'm writing this journal entry with my tmoble sidekick buried under two beefy sleeping bags. After grabbing the bus, I picked up Greg in Ballard and we headed off to the band house. We noticed a window was busted out of an old car Dave had on the street. We just figured it was a random act of vandalism, but Dave and John, his roommate, were playing target practice with a bee bee gun the night before. After a long drive through the mountains we arrived in Moscow and unloaded our stuff. While setting up, a guy named Doug who was a beekeeper made a random offer to trade a huge jar of honey for a CD. I took him up on it. The show was totally awesome! We made a lot of new friends, many of which came to the show because of some articles in the newspaper (thanks for your help Yogini). Vertical Dave and Katie, it was awesome seeing you. Thanks to everyone who came out. Tomorrow we head for Spokane!

January 10th, 2007

January 10th, 07 - Darren here with another long overdue update. The tour is over and we made it back home in once piece. I moved to Boston right before Thanksgiving and so far, its been a lot of fun. We had one last show in Seattle at the Crocodile Cafe before I took off. We recorded the last of 3 shows to compile into a live CD. While I've been away Dave and our friend Will Wakefield have been mixing it down and hopefully we'll have it completed soon. The Croc show was a blast. If you haven't been there, its dark and dirty club with plaster crocodile sculptures hanging from the cieling and tons of other artwork following a theme based on the clubs name. The food kicks ass and the sound is clear as a bell. Tons of killer acts have played there including Train and Jack Johnson. The only problem is that there's hardly any parking and load in can be a real pain. After sound check I ran into my highschool friend Riva. I caught up with her and her fam while scarfing down a bowl of chicken gumbo and a glass of whiskey. Shortly after eating I hit the wall. The night before, I went off with my friend Veeda to the O Lounge in Queen Anne to watch her cousin Jeff play (lead singer of Post Stardom Depression). It was 3AM before I got to bed and I had to get up at 6 for work. I thought I might have a chance to recoup if I snuck into the break room, but too many people kept coming in and out. I gave up and went into the show room to watch Will Wakefield play his set. It sounded killer. By the time the second band, Handful of Luvin, went on stage the crowd was pretty well jazzed up and liquored including us. In spite of how tired I felt, the show was great. Seeing all our friends in the crowd woke my ass up in an instant and the songs were tight. Thanks to all of you who came out. It really means a lot to us. About a week later I boarded the plane to Boston and since then, Thanksgiving & Christmas has come & gone and I got a job working at a clearance center called Filenes (which used to be an upscale department store until Maceys bought them out and shut em down). I worked their for a month to pay the bills before the next tour. My co workers kicked ass, but the building stunk and the customers pissed and moaned about saving a couple cents and occasionally threw shit accross the store when they couldn't have their way. As it got closer to Christmas the lines stretched back about 50 feet and the customers got even more irritable. Lookin back on it though, it was pretty damn funny and it was a short term job. They closed their doors on December 30th and since then I've spent most of my time preparing for the next tour. Well that's it for now...

Just to catch y'all up on what else happened since the last jounal entry, we made our way through Colorado with no problems. The two best gigs took place at the Foundry in Boulder and The Walnut Room in Denver where we joined our friends the Trampolines. JSYK the show was recorded and we've posted a few MP3s of our set (Domino, Drown and the Country Ditty) on the media page of our site. Check it out! We made some kickas enchiladas again with Jessi at her pad and relaxed for a day before leaving for New Mexico. The bar we played at called Evangelos in Santa Fe was owned by this cool old hispanic guy that had close ties to the Rolling Stones. He had pictures hanging on the walls of the bar of himself backstage with the guitar techs, his arm around the drummer Charlie Watts, and a ton of other photos. When we asked him about it all he said was "We know the Stones well". We got the vibe he didn't want any more questions asked. Albuquerque was a little rough. Rali's is more of a sports bar than a rock club. We couldn't hear a damn thing out of the monitors. We've been told by other bands that the "clubs" seem to cater to the hardcore crowd. We keep going back mainly to see our friends that live in the area (yes I'm thinking of you Chanel). Our next stop was Flagstaff playing on the college campus of NAU, then Tucson at this Lounge called Plush where our friend Babs and her boyfriend hung out with us. We played a couple nights at the Frog & Firkin and caught up with our friends there. Arizona kicks ass... end of story. To finish the trip off we went from San Diego and worked out way up (stopping at a couple In N Out Burger on the Way) finishing the tour in San Luis Obispo.

Oct 12th - Man, if I could drag that kickass bed from the hotel back to my house I'd be a happy man. We packed up, checked out of the Hilton and drove to Denver. Still no problems with Shelly, thank God. We arrived at UC Boulder way ahead of schedule. The guys headed off to check the place out. I got a haircut and found them at a bar accross the street. We headed back to Shelly and unloaded. Club 156 (the campus rock club) was pretty cool. It was our second time performing there. The highlight was seeing our good friend Jessi again. We've been friends with her ever since our first show in Boulder, CO.

Oct 11th - Next stop was Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. We've definitely had better shows. In fact, I'll be frank and say that this one sucked ass. The sound was being run by students and they openly admitted that they had just started learning how to use a mixing board and were using us to practice on. No one in the room looked very entertained. In fact, they looked a little annoyed and it felt pretty uncomfortable. There is a bright side however. After the show at the college the people in charge bought us lunch and provided lodging... at the Hilton. ;o)

Oct 10th, 2006 - We hung out in Salt Lake for another day and then headed off toward Colorado. Since we had a day to spare, we managed to set up a gig along the way in Laramie, WY at a place called the Buckhorn Tavern. It was windy as hell and snowing. We picked up a room at a hotel nearby and then drove into town to see what the Buckhorn was all about. The place was dark, super thick with cigarette smoke and deer heads lined all of the walls. The show was way fun though, and we're actually planning to go back next time we head out.

Oct 7th, 06 - The show at Port O Call kicked ass. It was our second day in Salt Lake. We all pretty much lazed about watching football and hangin with Chambers and Brenton till it was time to go to the club. When we arrived, Royal Bliss was already sound checking. In the middle of our set there must've been close to 1000 people in the place. It reminds me of playing the Showbox in Seattle. We unloaded a crapload of CD's and had an amazing time. We all got pretty lit. I tried to crowd surf... people didn't like that... :o(

Oct 6th, 06 - 1 radiator hose, 1 exploded tire... I hope this isn't a preview for what's to come. We fixed the tire and headed for Salt Lake City. We were all in the mood for a little rest so we jumped on our sidekicks and found a hot springs on the way. Our friend Patrick Porter hooked us up with his buddies Brenton and Chambers who live in town. They offered to put us up while we did our stint in Utah (thank again guys). We performed an acoustic show at the Cabana Club downtown. It's a classy joint and it was pretty full. We saw our lovely friends Ally and Alicia at the show. After we finished playing, we were all unpacking and some dude got stabbed right outside the bar. He was sitting by a tree with his friends holding his gut waiting for an ambulance to show up. Poor guy, he didn't look good at all.

Oct 5th, 06 - Dave and Travis woke up early the next morning and took Shelly to a mechanic nearby. The shop took a long time getting her fixed and we ended up getting out of there so late we weren't sure we were going to make it to Boise in time for the gig. We hauled ass outta there and just as we hit the "8 miles to Boise" mark, the bus gave a hard jerk and we had to pull off to the side of the freeway to see what was up. The rubber from one of our back tires came completely off as if someone took giant razorblade and skinned it. The only thing showing was a layer of wire mesh. The bus has duel rear tires, so we debated whether or not we should have her towed or drive on the tire we have left. We decided to take the risk... makes a way better journal entry...:o) We drove as slow as we could down the freeway and made it to the Bouquet in one piece. You could hear the tire hissing at every stoplight. The show was a blast. We hung out with our friends Krista and Sarah while watching Crash Four perform their set. After our set, bunch of drunk dudes from a touring buttrock band rolled into the bar and asked if they could play on our stuff. "Why the hell not". After they finished playing, we packed up the gear, had our new friends sign the bus and drove into a tire shop parking lot for the night.

Oct 4th, 06 - On the road again! Our first stop was at Bluz on The Bend in Spokane, WA. Every single tour so far, Shelly has had one issue or another. Before we left I knew we should expect "something" to go wrong. Sure enough, we arrived in the parking lot of the club and Shelly was dripping coolant like crazy. We've been through this type of thing so many times with this bus that we don't really get phased by it anymore. Anyway, we ignored it for the time being. The venue was pretty slow being a weeknight. Usually we play at the Blue Spark downtown which has a decent built in crowd. This place was more in the rural areas. The show wasn't too bad. Some of our good friends from town showed up and everyone there seemed to enjoy themselves. Afterwards we packed up the gear, fired up Shelly and headed off to our friend Piper's house.

Sept 17th, 06 - Yesterday was the last day of Roundup and it went over really well. A lot of folks cut loose and started dancing during our last couple sets. The best part of the whole week happened after roundup was officially over. I went and hung out with some friends for a while and then met up with the rest of the guys at a bar down the street from our stage. Another band invited us to play a few songs during their break. It ended up being one hell of a party. The next morning we packed up and headed home. Wanna give a shout to the Brian Hanson band. It was awesome seeing you guys again.

Sept 16th, 06 - The hotel breakfast is starting to grow on me... Dave went on a rant about Bush during a speech he gave on TV this morning and the rednecks in the dining room were pissed. The shows went better today. We hung out in the courtesy suite accross the street from our stage ( the greenroom). We get free beverage and popcorn there. Nothing too exciting happened other than that. I'm not sure where Greg and Dave went off to, but Trav and I hung out at the room and watched TV. Got myself a late night hot pocket and an Asahi beer. Good times. :o)

SEPT 15th, 06 - Day number two... Dave and I woke up and hit the free breakfast downstairs. The food is terrible, but whatever.. Its free. The streets were still pretty empty. So far, Roundup hasn't been all that exciting. Were really the "only" band that doesn't play country, and it seems to be the only thing the locals want to hear. During one of our sets, the owners of Cadillac Jacks walked past the stage and said hi. Before leaving they dropped an invite to the bar. Greg and I decided to stop in. Since the last time we'd been there the place has turned into a total hip hop club. Greg and I were pounding beers with the homies and left at closing time. We almost made it back to the hotel when Greg decided he wanted to stop at Safeway. They were closed. Greg grabbed a cantalope from one of the bins and started tossing it around. Without warning he says "catch" and lobs the thing at me. Time for bed.

SEPT 14th, 06 - The first couple days of Roundup are always pretty slow, but yesterday still had its golden moments. We arrived in Pendleton around noon and met up with Brian and his band at the stage, set up and started playin. We basically have to play every other hour until about 10:30 at night. First set starts at 3:30 in the afternoon. During one of our breaks I found a little thai joint. I spent a month in thailand last november and learned a some of the language, so I thought I'd speak a little to the folks running the joint. Seemed to go over well, because the owner gave me a free plate of food and tried to set me up with his daughter. Lol. After the last set, we offered to help Brian pull down his PA system, but he already had plans to set up a hammock on the stage and sleep outside all night to guard the gear. At about 3AM some random gal walking down the street tried crawling into bed with him and flipped the hammock over, dumping his ass onto the stage. More tomorrow.

SEPT 13th, 06 - Its been a while since we updated the journal so I'm just going to try and summarize everything that's happened since the last entry. After we left Oklahoma we made our way farther and farther east till we hit Covington, LA. A few of Daves relatives from Texas met up with us at the bar. Johnny and Daves cousin Cameron had been working in Mississippi helping out with the mess Hurricane Katrina left behind. The two of them got pretty blasted (as did the rest of us) and later that night after we parted ways we heard they were wrestling around and Johnny went to tackle Cameron, missed and tore his ear halfway off on the edge of a wall or something. We met up with Daves whole fam when we arrived in Denton (aka Do whut?). It was really good seeing everybody again. A few days later we played at a coffee shop called the Standard & Pours. During our break I went off to use the bathroom and couple people in the stall behind me were having sex. After finishing our set we jumped in the bus and made it to the first stoplight when some guy blew through a red and hit us. Throughout the rest of the trip, we ran into more trouble with the bus and ended up having to borrow money from our line of credit to get home. We had a few more decent shows those last days, but our spirits were pretty down and we couldn't wait to get the fk home. Since the day we arrived back in Seattle, we've been spending most of this year paying all that off doing local shows (minimizing gas expense). Its been six months since our last tour and were ready to go again. I'm actually sitting in the bus right now on our way to Pendleton, OR to perform at the Roundup (one of the U.S's largest rodeos). This week should be interesting.

February 15th, 2006

(Feb 15th) Hungover and tired, we woke up from a crappy nights sleep on the bus in the middle of some strange neighborhood. As soon as we got to Tulsa, we got a motel room and recouperated before heading to the bar. The reader board at the Crow Creek Tavern said "Today's Special - Chicken Fried Steak & Bradbury Press". Our buddy Ian sent a couple friends of his (Jennifer & Rachel) to the show. They waited to introduce themselves till the end.

February 14th, 2006

(Feb 14th) Happy Valentines Day! Our drive through Oklahoma was an interesting one. Fires have been spreading all over Oklahoma because of long dry spell and we passed one of them on the way to Oklahoma City. We arrived at Classics, had some killer cheesesteaks and put up our stuff. During Adam Hood's set our friend Elizabeth's dad (the lovely yoga instructor friend from Spokane) came up and introduced himself. He was a great guy. He was all dressed up in a cowboy outfit and brought a lady to the show. It was their first date. Adam had been to this bar before and the people he knew kept buying him shots. Before he even finished his set he was pretty trashed. During our set, a couple fights drew everyone out into the parking lot and cleared out most of the bar. After the show, we packed up, went to Taco Bell and slept on a residential street nearby.

February 13th, 2006

(Feb 13th) The next morning we said goodbye to our new friends in Wichita and drove to Greg's highschool friend Molly's apartment. She was extremely hospitable to us. Her mom made us all brownies and a big pot of chili. Molly threw down a couple air matresses for us and stocked the fridge with water and beer. (Thank you again Molly). We met up with Adam Hood and his new drummer Patrick at Fatso's. We originally met Adam a ways back in Boise. He'd been on tour with another band. One of his shows got canceled and we invited him to play with us at Tom Grainey's. Anyway, the gig tonight was pretty cool minus a few sound issues.

February 12th, 2006

(Feb 12th) We headed off to Wichita. Good lord the drive sucks! I thought Texas was flat, but this takes the cake. We arrived in Wichita at around 7. The bar was so small, if you blinked, you'd miss it. It was literally the size of a living room and the air was so damn smokey you could cut it with a knife. The gig probably would've been lame if it hadn't been for the kickass people we hung out with inside. They made it feel more like a gathering of friends than a show. One guy I talked to was fkin hilarious. He was completely tweaked out. His hair was different lenghths as if he took a pair of scissors and cut it himself in front of a mirror. He'd stare off into space, look up, laugh, then stare off again, say something about his current state of mind, give me a really goofy smile and do it all over again. We made a couple friends there who graciously put us up for the night. We all hung out for a while and then crashed on their floor.

February 11th, 2006

(February 11th) I woke up from a dead sleep early the next morning thinkin we were supposed to go to Kansas, so I sprang outta bed and jumped in the shower, packed up all my stuff, put it in the bus and started her up to warm the engine. Everyone else was sleepin and I figured they were just being lazy asses. I said "You guys, we better get a move on if were gonna make it to Wichita on time". Dave says "Dude, if we drive to Wichita today, its gonna seriously fk up our show in Boulder tonight...." I was pretty embarassed. Later that evening, we headed to Boulder for a gig at one of our favorite places, The Foundry. The place packed up with tons of drunken college kids. We had a group of gals that kept coming up and dancing on the stage. They were so drunk they could barely stand. One was playin grab-ass and stickin a plastic flower in my ear while the others were hangin on travis and dave to the point that they couldn't play their instruments. We kicked em off, but they'd keep coming back. Lol. During break, I met up with my friend Sarah from back home who moved back to Colorado, and also met some gals from Shoreline, Wa (where Trav and I grew up). Also, some random old guy brought a rubber alien toy into the club and told greg to put it on his drum set. Tonight was our last gig in Colorado for this trip. Were sad to leave.

February 10th, 2006

(Feb 10th) Jesus, that was a pain in the ass! We woke up extra early hoping to get Shelly put in a shop for repairs as soon as possible. There was a mechanic next door to the Super 8 we slept at, but he kept giving us vague answers as to when and "if" he'd be able to help us out. We grabbed the phone book and started calling all the mechanics we could find in Solida and one after another kept saying "Sorry... can't help you. We're full." Finally, the mechanic next door caved and pulled out his computer, hooked it up and diagnosed the problem. He attached a chain to her front end, towed her to the shop next door and had her fixed in 15 minutes (was that so fricken hard?) We bolted back to Colorado Springs, did our show at the Thirsty Parrot and returned to Jessi's house in Denver the next morning. We had the day off. Darren made enchiladas and then we all went bowling. Thanks to our buddy Brian Woods, we now have the ability to post photos with our journal entries. Check em out!

February 09th, 2006

Ah, the adventures of touring. Yesterday was going pretty damn well until all hell broke loose on our way to Gunnison, CO. As we made our way up the mountains Shelly konked out on the highway and we had to pull off to the side of the road which was "extremely" narrow. As we were lookin at the map trying to figure out where the hell we were, a cop showed up and offered to have a towtruck pick us up. Hauling Shelly probably would have added another 3 - 400 dollars to the cost of having her fixed, and just as things were leaning towards having to do that, a man and his wife drove up and asked what the problem was. We explained what happened and he told us to yank the fuses and put em back. We did as he told and the bus fired up (kickass). We told the cop who was in the middle of calling in the tow, to disregard. We hopped in and went our way. 2 miles later... Same thing happened. Pulled off the side of the road, we yanked the fuses, put em back and started driving. We had to do this several times, and honestly this was probably one of the most dangerous situations we've been in. Sometimes the bus would konk out going up a hill where there was no spot to pull off and then suddenly kick back into gear. We thank the tour gods for not killing our asses. Stop after stop, we finally made it to a small town called Solida. No mechanic in town would see us today. We pulled into Super 8, watched Southpark, and went to bed.

February 08th, 2006

The past couple days have been pretty lax. Shelly's been runnin great. We had a killer show in Salt Lake City with two very cool bands called Royal Bliss and SoulJibe. A special thanks to our friend Ally and the rest of the drunken karaoke squad for comin out. It was awesome seeing you. No stops at the Chuckarama this time I'm sorry to say. After the show, went back to the Super 8 we were stayin at. Greg was up half the night because some guy in the next room was watchin porn until the wee hours of the mornin. The rest of us were too sacked out to notice. Then came Superbowl Sunday. Our friend Patrick Porter hooked us up with some friends of his in Salt Lake for a Party. We didn't know a single person there, but they were gracious enough to invite us down and feed us. Seahawks lost. That game was messed up. Sorry. We sped off to Denver after the game. Our good friend Jessi put us up for a couple days. Last nights show was great. We did a gig with a killer group called the Virginia Coalition. Their fans were very cool to us and we sincerely appreciate it. Thanks to all of you who came out the past couple days. This has honestly been the best tour so far. Lets hope it keeps up...

February 04th, 2006

Good mornin from Boise Idaho! We almost didn't make it (more on that in a sec). lol. It took us a while to get Shelly started yesterday morning. Once she fired up though, a HUGE puff of black smoke came bursting out from her exhaust pipe and filled up the whole parking lot. 2 cop cars were parked at the place and the police officers standing nearby got a mouthful. The funniest time that happened was in Spokane. We parked right in front of a fancy hotel and the doors to the place were wide open. Once shelly fired up another bigass cloud of black smoke burst out and went right into the building. Okay, so getting back to the main topic, we got onto the road at about 11AM and about 2 hours into the drive we stopped at a truck stop for a pee break. Greg looked down and saw coolant gushing from the bottom of the bus. We still had about 4 1/2 hours more to drive and we weren't in the most convenient place for this shit to happen. We grabbed all the water we had and dumped it in and high tailed it down the road. We made it about 10 minutes and then Shelly overheated. So there we were... No reception... In BFE... Greg said "can we put beer in it?" We saw a Ranch a ways off and figured that was our best bet to get water and information. Dave and I grabbed every bottle we had lying around, and even rummaged through the trash. We rounded up 2 gallon jugs, 3 aquafina bottles, a few gatorade bottles and Gregs thermos, scooped em up in our arms and walked to the farm. We walked through the premesis and were greeted by a pissed off dog. I was a little paranoid thinkin someone was gonna shoot our asses. Then, a man came out of a house nearby and he was kind enough to let us use a hose on the site. We drove shelly right up to it, filled all the bottles and topped her off. The next town was 20 miles away. We drove another 10 minutes, bus overheated, we filled her up with water, and started driving again. It didn't take long to run out, but a DOT guy saw us and filled up all of our bottles again. We hauled balls and made it to a mechanic. He fixed the problem in no time at all. We didn't make a single stop from that point on and made it to Boise at 9PM. I'm glad we pulled it off. That's the second time we've had a breakdown on the way to Boise. The show was awesome. Happy Birthday Becca! Thanks to the guys in Crash Four for having us. Take care Boise! More tomorrow.

February 03rd, 2006

Man, were all pretty beat up from last night. Moscow is party central. I'm trying like crazy to write this journal entry but I'm having some serious brain farts... Yesterday morning we went for coffee with Elizabeth and then drove to Pullman for our nooner at WASU. The gig went great. The students there have always been really receptive. We then headed to Moscow, ID (just a few miles down the road from Pullman) and booked a room at our usual spot. The folks who run the place "still" haven't forgotten the incident where some punks followed our asses back to the motel after a gig at Johns Alley and destroyed their sauna. Before collecting the damage deposit, she tells me the story every time "Yeah, there was this band called... "Bradbury Dress, or Bradbury Express" that had a party or something and some people ripped out the sink and peed all over the place blah blah"... as if I was a brand new customer. All, I can say to her is "those dirty bastards". We've been there about three times since then and she still doesn't remember me. The gig at Johns Alley last night was killer. Over the past couple years, we've made a bunch of friends there and a ton of them came to the show. Vertical Dave (the 7 foot sound guy) and other patrons of the bar kept buyin us shots. By the end we were all pretty doin pretty well. After the show, as we loaded our stuff out Dave and Travis noticed a guy lying in the street. It looked like he had tried to get into his car, fell backwards and passed out. He was so drunk he couldn't stand, so Dave had to pry his keys outta the guys hand, open the door and then the two of them picked his ass up and chucked him in the backseat. Our buddy Katie hung out with us for a while afterwards. We all went to Pita Pit and then turned in for the night.

February 02nd, 2006

Its a sunny day in spokane (something we haven't seen in a whiile). We were a little worried about going through the passes on the way to eastern Wa, but we (including Shelly, our bus) made it in one piece. Last night we celebrated the last day of business for the B Side and our dear friend Elizabeths birthday. The B Side is a pretty banged up place. The guys bathroom has a crater in like someone tossed a grenade right next to the toilet. You can literally put your foot through the floor and into the basement of the bar. When we first arrived we met up with Gregs friend Jessica. The poor girl was all banged up from an accident where some random energetic drunk dude thought itd be funny to throw her on his shoulder and start running around. He tripped and dropped her on her face. I think everyone has had an instance or two where something "really" retarted seems cool after they've had a few. I had one of those moments at a show fairly recent where I took one of gregs shoes and chucked it off the stage into the crowd thinkin someone would catch it and ended up clockin a gal in the head. She didn't even see it comin. To all of our friends in Spokane, it was great to see and hang out with you! Our next stop is Pullman. Goodbye until tomorrow.

October 16th, 2005

Greetings from hell on earth....Wyoming. We are on the road currently to Salt Lake City where we will be playing some really great friends of ours The Clumsy Lovers. So for the past week we have had the privilege of playing shows in Colorado. To me these shows have been best of the whole tour so far. Colorado has a really great music scene mainly because the people out there can really appreciate our music and they aren't afraid to cut loose and have fun, and really that what is all about. Another great thing about colorado is that its a lot like home. I love the weather and its easy to get around. We played in Colorado Springs, Denver, and 2 nights in Boulder. Our show last night was at the foundry in boulder what a killer place and not to mention what a bunch of nutcases that hang out there as well. From the first note it was an all out dance party-booze induced-grope your friend fest. From the stage you saw more things that you wouldn't normally see at your regular live music venue, but I think that is what makes the foundry so special. Special thanks to Matt @ the foundry for always taking care of us you really know how to make us feel at home. During the day yesterday we took off with our friends Jessy and Jane and headed out to Golden which is the home of Coors beer. We went a took the tour it was very infomative to know how some of the best beer in the world is made. At the half way point of the tour we were treared to theeeee freshest coors I have ever tasted, nothing like the taste of the sweetest nectar. At the end of the tour you are treated to even more samples in the coors lounge. I think it safe to say we as a band really enjoyed the Zima slushees that we also available. Anyway we are nearing the last week of the tour it will be nice to be back in the northwest and see some of the familar sights and of course faces. Check in with you all later. G PS- Someone please buy me a prarie dog for my bday.

October 06th, 2005

The first night we rolled into Texas we stopped at a truckstop about 45 minutes from San Antonio to set up camp and sleep for the night. "Ugh" big mistake. No one slept, because of the insane humidity. The show we were supposed to do at the college got canceled because of rainy weather which lasted a total of 5 mins. Well whatever, since we were there, "Its time to do some sightseeing." We jumped into the bus and headed off for the Alamo (partially cause Dave wanted to see where Ozzy Ozbourn pissed on it). It really wasn't what any of us expected. The place has been turned into a giftshop, which killed the effect of its historical signifigance. We stayed there for a while to check things out, headed back to the motel 6, then went to our gig at Jacks Patio Bar. Pretty cool place. We played a broken down acoustic set which seemed to go off pretty well. Our friends Stephanie and Billie came out with a bunch of their friends. After we got done, a gal asked us all to sign one of our stickers which she had put on her rack. I dunno what the hell happened, but it became contagious and pretty soon random dudes in the bar were pullin down shirts and signing tits all over the place. One guy whipped out his wang for some older lady to tag... That's about when we decided to leave lol! Next day was really laid back, we didn't do much of anything except stay out of the heat. Our gig in San Marcos took place at Texas State University at a bar on campus. Afterwards we hung out w Tara, the booking gal who was really cool. We woke up this morning, went to Burger King and left for Austin. As soon as we rolled into town, the bums around 6th street swarmed our rig askin us for money. The bar we're playing at is right next to the Salvation Army and its where all the homeless folks congregate. One guy followed us more than a block trying to gets us to hand him a couple bucks for beer. Normally, its easy to politely say no and they'll move on, but its not that easy. They don't take no for an answer and if you hand anything out, they demand more. We literally had to stay in the bus to be left alone. Every now and then one of them would peek inside to see if we'd pay them any attention. Anyway I was making press kits w Greg when our buddy Will called from Seattle to inform me that the cops labeled my car as an abandoned vehicle and are going to tow it away tomorrow. Realizing I hadn't left the keys back at the house before we left on tour, I jumped out of the bus, dodged several crackheads following me down the street, yelling for me to stop and ran about 10 blocks to the post office where I Fed Exed my car keys back to Seattle. I used to live on the street where my car is parked and I know the meter maid that haunts the place. She's ruthless and I should've been smarter than to leave the car there. I'm hoping my keys get there before she does. If its gone, I swear I'm gonna tip over the fckin go-cart she rolls in! Anyway, enough about that. We just finished our show here at Red Eyed Fly. It was a good time. We thought we were gonna have to do the night alone becuase the original supporting act bailed. Just before we went on, we heard word that another band was coming in. Were listening to them right now. The band's name is Arden Store Road. (Thank you guys) Tomorrow were headed to Denton to meet up with Daves fam. Were really looking forward to seeing them all. Until tomorrow, have a good night y'all.

October 02nd, 2005

On our way to Texas! Were about an hour away from El Paso and were hauling ass! Its an overcast day in Las Cruces, NM. The air is way cooler than AZ which is nice. I wouldn't mind if it rained right now, so long as we don't forget to close the roof hatch! Jesus, while heading down through California, it started "pouring" and it took a half hour to realize that the damn hatch was left open, which is right above the loft where I sleep. So, sadly the guys in Below Average Productions had their last show with us in Tucson last night. Its not gonna be as much fun without em. During the day, we all hung out by the pool and got a little R&R to recuperate from the previous nights gig. I retreated to the bus & took some time to learn one of Adam Hoods tunes. While I was out there some creepy dude came walking up to the bus and asks "Hey... I need to get some food... where can I find a place?.. I pointed him to Kettles Diner which was in the next parking lot pretty goddamn plain as day. He says he wants fast food and I tell him I'm not sure where to find one, so he starts pestering me to let him get on the bus and take him somewhere. I kept saying no and all he did was argue until I reached over and pressed the button to close the doors. End of discussion. Jesus the guy was wierd. He wasn't the only one though... Last night right after our show, two grungly dudes who were also staying at the motel came out of their hole as the Below Average Guys were giving us their leftover liquid charge and whatnot. I ended up getting left alone with them while they were yackin about all sorts of nonsense and I was just too polite to walk away. One of the guys spread his arms out as if he was hanging on the cross and proclaimed to be Jesus. His friend, who earlier did a Native American farewell dance in the parking lot for the Below Average guys, concured that he was the son of God. I got the fuck outta there! I'm happy to leave that motel behind. Some dude actually got stabbed in the parking lot the night we arrived. So anyway, in regards to the show, we saw a lot more familiar faces this time. We wanna thank Joadie, Lisa and Turiya and rest of the crew for coming out and supporting the cause. And also Babs, Odie, John, Sarah, Garret and the rest of the Frog & Firkin for another great time. Aight, I'm dyin for a nap. Gooooooooooooooodnight! Darren

October 01st, 2005

Well this is the last day were gonna be hangin with the B.A.P. guys on this roadtrip. Were all congregated at Kettles right down the street from the Motel 6 we stayed at. Were lovin this place. Its got a fatty buffet that we hit up just at the cusp of breakfast/lunch, so to loosen the stomach muscles, we loaded up on bacon, sausage, lucky charms, etc. The food kicks ass, however, one thing freakin me out right now is that the bacon tastes like fish... At this very moment they're doing the lunch switchout... hallelujia! Before I move on to last nights events, I need to mention that we just found that the liquid charge bus has a PA loudspeaker attached to it. Goddammit! Why didn't we figure this out sooner! Okay, so moving on about last night... Tucson is one of the best places we've played (at least the Frog & Firkin). I don't think we've ever played a place besides the Tractor Tavern in Seattle that has been as consistently fun and supportive as this place. I think the BAP guys can concur. They sold more CDs at last nights show than any that we've played so far. The Frog is an English style bar that attracts a lot of Europeans. In the middle of our first set, a scottish guy that I swear sounded just like Shrek came up and asked us to play Sweet Home Alabama. The guy even sang the song for me and it was fkin hilarious with the super thick accent he had, complemented with his drunken loud shouting voice. I wanted to give him the mic and tell him to say "AAAAARGH! I'M AN OGRE!". We played the song for him. He started doin a jig and started bangin on his table like crazy. He was such a cool guy, we gave him both discs for free and told him to spread the word to his friends in Scotland. So aside from that, it was killer seeing all of our friends from the Frog and several folks we know from Phoenix. The show went extremely well, however, tonight will most definitely be even more exciting. Were looking forward to it. Until tomorrow, this is Darren signing off.

September 30th, 2005

Captains log So we are pretty much having the time of our lives. We picked up this cool girl lauren aka muffin. Have I ever told u how hot greg looks with his shirt off. Let me tell you about the AZ.....its hot I'm not too fond of the heat especially with no AC. Last night we played at the last exit in tempe with our buddy stephen ashbrook. The show started out a little late and the sound was a little sketch. If you were online you may have heard heard that our show was broadcast online...its cool to know that random people were listening to us. Overall the show was fun we have gotten use to playing with PAs that are a little rough. You can't let bad sound on stage ruin the show, so you just deal with it. For anyone that's interested, creamyradio.com is going to rebroadcast the show on sunday at 5pm pst. Its free so check it out. Now we are heading to tucson where the current temp is 135 degrees or so, shelly might melt before we get there. Coming up, two nights at the frog and firkin, should be a goood time. Last two shows with our friends from below average productions, if you haven't heard them yet check them out at belowaverageproductions.com. Ok, its just about beer o'clock. Lauren aka muffin Greg aka gary sanchez And travis aka travis Ps lauren is the best girl ever

September 30th, 2005

sept 29, 1225pm... We are on our way to arizona and it is hot as hell right now on the bus. So the last couple days we were in san diego and hermosa beach. San diego was fun as always, we played at canes on tuesday, saw some friends, ate some wicked cheesesteaks at volteros, drank a couple beers on the beach, just the usual I guess. San diego makes us think about the movie anchorman and at the end of our show dave had to say 'stay classy san diego'. But the more we think about it, what we know of san diego is far from classy. Anyway, then we drove up to hermosa beach and played at a really cool bar called patrick molloys last night. The show went pretty well, brian from below average productions had his mom and siblings and grandma there and this girl kept trying to dance with him during his set. I don't think grandma liked that very much. But it was pretty funny, especially after their set was over and the girl almost got in a fight with some other girl for no reason. Ok, now that you're up to speed, we just crossed the az border. Its gotta be in the 90s right now and I hear its nice and chilly back home. What I wouldn't give for some cool weather. That's it for now. Next stop, tempe. Signing off... Travis

September 27th, 2005

September 25th, 2005

Hey there all you loyal friends of the bradbury press. Greg here checking in with you to let you in on the past couple nights. As you may know our friends below average productions have been on the road with us needless to say its been a great time. The guys are great hang out with and we all love their music. A few of us have started a side project while on the road. The band is moree of a "snorkastra" the group consists of myself, brian and sean from BAP...we do only late night shows but sometimes Brian cuts out during the day for a solo performance the first time we played it was so great that travis 2 couldn't even sleep it was so awesome. Outside of that we have been busy playing shows. Last night we were at mr ricks in avila beach. Pretty sweet ass bar and cool people. Anyway time to get going we have another show in san luis obispo at a bar we play at a lot called the frog and peach...catch you all tommorrow.

September 24th, 2005

Okay, so lets talk about Davis. That place has the most killer pizza joint ever. You need to check out Woodstocks. We hit that shit up as soon as we got into town. After the feast we all went off to a park down the street and hung out for few hours playing football, baseball, drinking liquid charge and nappin on the grass. Sometimes, touring can be a total bitch, but other times, I feel sorry for people who are missing out. We headed off to the bar after a couple hours at the park. Derek, one of the Below Average guys, and I found an "all you can eat" sushi bar. (13 bucks!) Derek ate so much, he fell asleep in the short bus and didn't wake up till the next morning. It was good. Really good. The show went great. Everyone was having a good time. Our good friends Andi and Karen that we met in Truckee came to the show. It was really good seeing them. Anyway, this is Darren signing off. More tomorrow. #$!@%6*

September 23rd, 2005

Last nights gig at LaSalles, could have been a lot better. It was a weekday, and no one in town seemed interested in going out. Honestly, we've heard raves about gigging in that area, but so far it hasn't been too exciting. LaSalles is cool, but its hard to get past the pungent smell of ancient spilled beer and god knows what when you walk through the door. Our friends Pat & Terry showed up and we met a bunch of Swedish guys in a great band called "Last Amanda" so that was cool. We hope to run into those guys again. That's it for now.

September 21st, 2005

Hello from Jiffy Lube in Chico, CA. Just had a little In N Out and now were getting Shelly tuned up for this longass trip through the western US. We headed back to Seattle for a day after Roundup so we could restock on supplies then left for California at noon on Monday. We hauled ass, got into Chico at midnight and immediately started lookin for a place to crash. Hmmmmm.... "This neighborhood will do." We parked her in the shadows of a residential street. The first attempt to camp out didn't work cause some old fart who should've been sleeping came out of his house mean muggin us, so we had to relocate in front of someone els'. We woke up to someone rappin on our window at 8AM. I kinda felt like we should've given some explanation as to why we were parked out in front of their house, but Dave just screams "GO AWAY!". The knocking stopped. In the middle of our nooner show at Chico State, the guys in "Below Average Productions" showed up. We all hung out by the pool at the Heritage Inn Express, and then went to LaSalles in the other bands shortbus. Michelle, the booker from Chico State, met up with us and hung out for a while. I was drinkin my beer and all of the sudden, everyone was gone. Cell phone was dead. I wasn't sure if they were going to come back. When they finally did, the bus was slammed full of folks they picked up off the street. We rolled through town picking folks up and droppin em off, going from bar to bar. It was a good time.

September 19th, 2005

So the roundup is gettin wilder and wilder. Our biggest fan stays attached to the front of the stage like a hood ornament... I guess she likes the music cause we've been doing 4 shows a day everyday and she's been at every one. Its friday night we get everything packed up just after 1 am and were beat so were gonna grab some grub and hit the hotel for a late nite feast. I'm driving down court street and there's a plethra of drunkin people waddling through the streets... gettin er done... or maybe, lettin er buck I'm not sure... so this girl gets in front of the bus... (side note.. some people are only alive cause its illegal to run them over).. And they think were a public transit that's supposed to give them a ride to the next bar.. well were not... but I'm a good sport so I open the doors for em, there's only a few of them, so why not give em a ride?... k.. let me tell u "why not"... because they're drunker than shit and everyone within 3 blocks is now storming the bus for ride, we had about 20 people on there all screaming out the song "lean on me"... (slightly off key mind u). So we arive @ the happy palace r watever the place was, offloaded our precious drunken cargo into a nearby parking lot. I had a short aggument w/ a western wear clad fellow who demanded we take him somewhere else... denied.. "get off the bus.." a twenty dollar bill was passed my way by a nice looking young lady which paid for the safeway nutrition mission.....oh yeah and somebody changed the hotel reader board from "approved cowboy lodging.." To "we do cowboys" I thought that was pretty funny... we wanted to change it to "wu tang clan" but didn't have enough letters for gza or rza. Any way, saturday was basically more of the same entertaining shit. Lets see... Drunk cowgirls, 17 year olds w/ babies, the mechanical bull. The crowds never got a big as they usually do... I guess because of raising gas prices, but there was still a lot of people there. Its kind of a shame we never went and saw any actual rodeo while we were there but to tell ya the truth I'm not really into it.. I just liked playin for all those people all week and they liked the music a lot. Everyone was great to us, especially everyone down @ cadillac jacks. We packed our junk up for the last time that night and headed home. But first its time for some Mcdonalds... now ya gotta understand the bus won't fit through most drive throughs... so, as always, me and greg jump out and hitch a ride through w/ some random gals already in line how ever... little did we know what we were in for... k this is the pg17 part of my report. The gal driving pulls out her vibrater and start showing it off... now, I see no point in someone showing their dildo to complete strangers, but I have to ask her... "if u start using that thing right now (@ the order window) can u get off by the time we get our order" and low and behold she's willin to give a try.. atta girl! Well the batteries died so it was a failed mission but the bugers were great... I'm referring to the food now. We had about 24 hours in seattle and were back on the road now as I write. Thanks to Brian Hanson and his whole band for helpin us and playin with us thanx to the rainbow for the cheap pbr, caddilac jacks for the free pbr the mainstreet cowboys for keepin the peace. By the way, don't ever call our bus a piece a shit again whoever that dickweed was and the whole town of pendleton we love u guys. Hey, Alexis I think there was a shooting outside ur hotel room. Ps. Whiteys makes the best maple bars Peace D-Bizzel

Well, this is our last day at roundup. We've seen a lot of cool stuff, met some great people and hope to come back. The evenings have been the most interesting of all. Its pretty much a drunk cowboy fest. We saw some lady projectile vomit on the sidewalk (ever seen team america?) and a couple nights ago while we were trying to sleep two folks we didn't even know that came back to the hotel to hang out were shaggin on the floor right next to my bed whispering the most messed up sh*t I've ever heard. I wanted to chuck a pillow at them cause I couldn't crash out, but I tuned it out and let them have their fun. Travis' folks came down yesterday plus several friends of ours from Seattle, Boise and Spokane. It was awesome seeing them. Wanna give a shout out to the Mainstreet Cowboys for hookin us up with the free beer and killer hotel rooms and also the other performers we've met. We also wanna give a shout to Brad, Denise, John and the rest of the Cadillac Jacks crew for showin us a good time this week. You guys take care of yourselves.

LET'ER BUCK! Welcome to the Pendleton Roundup. We've been here for a few days already. They accomodated us with a beautiful room at the Oxford Suites which is conveniently located right accross from Walmart. I just made a stop over there this morning to pick up a USB cable for our printer. There's about 20 trailers camped out in the parking lot. All the cashiers are wearing cowboy hats. Greg went there earlier in the week for a haircut and came back looking like a college football player. Roundup is such a huge deal here that schools let out for half the week to celebrate it. Its been pretty slow the past few days, but its still be really busy for us. We leave at around noon to set up, start playing at 3:30 and end at 10:30. Accross the street from the stage is the courtesy room (aka "the bat cave") which is where bands and other performers get comlimentary beer, food, soda, whatever. On the other side is the bull ride. We finally got Greg randy enough to get on it. The operator is a dirty old man that loves to get women on there and shake the bull ride so their boobs jiggle. The daytime shows have been pretty tame throughout the week. The most interesting stuff happens in the evening. One lady was dancing to our music in the street, attempting to do a whole bunch of Michael Jackson moves. (Moonwalk, etc). Last night a very large lady who was just fricken hammered fell down in the middle of the street and couldn't get up. She was rolling around all over the place and people were trying to help her up, but she kept falling on her face each time. Pretty soon the cops came and took care of it. At the end of each night, we've been going to Cadillac Jacks to finish off the evening. We wanna give a shout out to all of our friends down here. We've got another few days to go. Each day is getting better and better. [Over and out]

sept 12, 1012am... Yesterday we went to spocompton to play a private party that we got auctioned off for. Turns out it was a campaign kick off party for carmen green, she's running for a position on the school board out there. It was pretty cool, complete with coors light and some good food (greg recommends the shrimp, dave and darren recommend the meatballz, I recommend the chips and salsa) so we had a good time, plus we got to see our friends denise and jeff. By the way, jeff happens to make the best home brew you've ever had, but unfortunately he was all out. For those of you that live in the area, don't forget to vote for carmen on november 8th! I have to admit that i felt a little alone, being the only husky there. I could sense a strong wsu presence, and not long after the party we went straight to the source. We crashed with some friends in pullman and now we are on our way to..... The pendleton roundup! Yeeeehawwww! Six days and nights of tunes, booze, bulls, belt buckles, cowboy hats, drunks, and who knows what else. I guess we wll find out. Ok that's it for now, we have to go find some leather chaps for dave. Signing off.. Travis

Jesus, we got a nice taste of what's to come this week. We all partied our asses off last night in Pendleton. The show went really well. Cadillac Jacks (formerly known as Shakers until they kept getting mistaken for a titty bar in a nearby town) is a roadhouse/hiphop danceclub/sportsbar. Every time I go there I promise myself I won't get as hammered as the last time, but its not the kind of place you can just sit down and have a coke at or be anti social. You're gonna drink, you're gonna dance and you'll make a lot of friends whether you want to or not. There were a fair number of people at the bar until about midnight, the place got totally slammed. We figured it would be a good idea to haul the gear out while there was still time, so we packed up and took off for the hotel. At this very moment were headed to Spokane for the day and we'll return to Pendleton tomorrow for Roundup. We've got three shows each day on Main Street all week long and at the end of each night, we're to report to the bat cave (cadillac jacks).

Alriiiiiiiiiight... Second day on the road wasn't too shabby. Our buddy Adam took off in the mornin for Seattle to play a gig at the High Dive. The rest of us headed to Ketchum where we met up with some old friends Jake and Regan. Ketchum was a new place for us. The place is a total money town. Some of the houses look more like castles. One of them looked like it was made from solid stone. Not like, stucco or brick, but as if some one found a boulder the size of a 3 story building and chisled a house out of it. Our show at Whiskey Jaques went great. It was a pretty wild crowd. There was a batchelorette party going on, and a lot of people were on the floor making noise. We finished the gig and packed up. Just as we were about to leave a group of guys were trying to get on the bus for a joyride. When we turned em away they ran after us as we drove down the road throwing stuff at the windows, trying to egg on a fight. Anyway, Jake put us up for the night. Tomorrow we head to Pendleton.

Greetings from boise...last night was the kickoff of our fall tour. It was about an 11 hour drive from seattle to boise. We played our usual spot tom graineys. Yesterday we got a call from our friend adam hood from alabama he was also in town playing a show but unlike our show his was cancelled. Adam came over to graineys and we were able to get him a slot to play....I'm sure many of you have never heard of adam hood or his music but I hope you check him out we are all big fans of his music. So for us in the bradbury camp we received a lot of attention from the local boise media this time around. Its always nice to get interviews and write ups not always does it translate in to a line around the block to get into the show, but its getting our name out there and that's what its about. The show was a little slower than past shows but overall it was a good warmup for the next couple months. When the show was finshed we finally found good ol boy hood passed out in his rental car..it was a rough night for the guy. Got back to the hotel and crashed out. Woke around 9 or so I had a radio interview to do with the local sun valley station..did my job and it was sucessful. I'm really looking forward to getting to sun valley tonight its a big weekend in town....the dalia lama, willie nelson and the aforemention bradbury press are all in town....you think I'm kidding but I'm not...imagine waht would happen if we all got together....so in closing its really starting to hit me that this is going to be one long trip full of all kinds of suprises and interesting people...I couldn't imagine a better way to spend the fall but traveling the US....G

Damn, last night was awesome. We did a gig at John's Alley in Moscow, ID. Its never a bad time there. The people are just cool and aren't afraid to have fun. Our friend Nathan Spicer of the Jude Bowerman band was in town for a show at some festival down there. Right after he was done, he came down and sat in with us the whole evening at Johns Alley. Whenever we get the chance to play a show with him, Tyack, and Travis Beard its a real treat. This year at Bumbershoot, we'll be jammin with all three of them. Y'all have to come out for that show. Anyway, back to Moscow. We got to our motel room at the Royal Motor Inn. I'm surprised they didn't recognize us when we got there to get the room. Last time we booked a room, we had a whole bunch of friends come back to hang out after the show. Some drunk punks from the bar followed the crew, broke into the sauna, tore the sink and showerheads off, peed all over the place and broke bottles in the heating element. The motel held us responsible and we were gonna pay to have it repaired until a friend of ours from Moscow recognized the guys and turned them in. Anyway, we checked in, watched Anchorman for a while then headed back to the bar. It was awesome. The stage sound was thick. Spicer tore it up and even Jude Bowerman came up for a few songs. We're really looking forward to going back.

07-04-05 It was an oven the next morning in the bus. Not just from the hot California sun, but also because Dave got cold in the middle of the night, turned the bus' heater on and never turned it off. We flipped the A/C on and routed several extension cables and adapters all over the place to hook up a little fan. Our friend Keith, the bar owner, called to invite us to Donner Lake for the day. As we were about to leave, Greg realized he left his bag in the cab the night before. Lucky for him, we located the cab driver and met up with him at a coffee shop down the road to snag the bag and headed to Donner for the day. I highly recommend going there. The show at Past Time was even better the second night. Monique and Adam showed up again with a ton of their friends, and we saw Andi and Carey some friends of ours from our first trips down. We packed up the bus after the show. Shannon and Keith couldn't pay us until the bar was totally closed up. Trav and I were hangin out on the bus when somebodys pit bull hopped on board and plopped right down next to me on the futon mattress. It was a little random, but the dog was cool as hell. About 5 mins later, his owner came up on the bus looking for him and took him away. To sum up the rest, we got paid, we drove home... We were all in a hurry to get back to see family and blow shit up for fourth of July.

July 03rd, 2005

Were in the beautiful land of Truckee, CA right now. We took off on Thursday and did a power drive down here, only stopping to eat some BK and crash out at a familiar truck stop right near the California border. During the second portion of the drive, smoke started coming up through the floor again. We quickly pulled her over to the side of the freeway and jumped out. She had a nice steamy gas leak. Talk about freaky. I knabbed the fire extinguisher. Greg was yammerin about "OMG, we gotta get a new rig!!". We found out there was a little repair shop just two exits down the road. We weren't sure if we should risk driving there or have her towed. Call us retarted, but we waited for her to cool down, started her up and made a beeline for the repair shop. The place was definitely no Pep Boys. It was in this industrial part of Weed, CA, tucked back in the woods. The mechanics were all old, toothless, chainsmoking, filthy lookin guys, but man they were cool and they fixed everything up for 100 bucks. (Less than the oil change we had done at Walmart earlier on that morning). As soon as we rolled into town, we set up and paid a visit to Tacos Jalisco. The show started out pretty slow, but gained serious momentum later on in the eve. We met some cool folks named Monique, Adam, Renee, and this really drunk dude named Aaron who was celebrating his 21st birthday. He wanted to come up and play guitar on a song. We usually don't let that crap fly because once they get up on stage, its hell getting em off and it makes the bar owners mad, but since it was his 21st, we brought him up for Sweet Home. Just as we expected, the guy wouldn't put the guitar down. Dave had to mute him and let him wank off thinking he was whipping off this huge guitar solo. Nobody could hear him. The last thing we wanted was for the bartender to take matters into his own hands. He looked like he was having the time of his life though, which was the goal. Everyone filed out after our last set. We hung out with Shannon and Keith (the owners) for a while, grabbed our stuff from the bus, and hopped in a cab to crash at Dinos place (another one of the famous Past Time bartenders). The driver couldn't find the place. Address was wrong, or the guy just didn't know the area very well, so he drove us back to the bus. All I can say is, we need showers. Gnite...

So, a ton has happened since the last time we wrote in the journal. We've had Cinco de Mayo, Folklife, our first sorority gig, a trip to Missoula, several smaller gigs here and there and one big show at the Tractor. The weather has really sucked balls in Seattle. Overcast..... Rain rain rain rain.... and uh... rain.... showers and a chance of thunderstorms.... The last show at the Tractor was incredible (as always). Tons of energy. We met some new folks and saw a ton of very missed familiar faces. The openers were the bands Weather, Reed, and a soloist named Curtis Peoples. All put on great shows. Tomorrow, were making a trip to Boise and then to Pendleton. Oh, that reminds me, were doing the Pendleton Roundup this year. 1 solid week of music. 4 sets each day at one of the bigges rodeos in the US. YEE %$#*@&*# HAW!!!!

05-01-05 Good lord, finally back home! Its a beautiful warm day here in Seattle. I'm sitting in lower Queen Anne at a place called Uptown Espresso doing what we Seattle folk do best. Some looney guy is yelling and swinging punches at the air. Its good to be home! Our show at the Past Time last night was awesome. They always take good care of us. Hell, we like it so much, were making a trip down there to play on 4th of July weekend, then coming straight back. If you ever go to Truckee make a pit stop over there and tell them Bradbury sent ya. While you're at it, take a little swing on the stripper pole. I wanna give a shout to Tiffany, Keith, Dino, and Shannon. If we had known you guys before we made the Hanscom album, you would have made the favorite bartender list. I also wanna mention a couple of other friends, Carey, Andi and Scott. It was great seeing y'all again. After the show, we were all ready to be home. We packed up the stuff and drove all night last night and made it back to town this afternoon at 4. No stops except for gas. Shelly is running like a champ. Not too long after I got home Greg called me up and gave me the news that we'll be playing Folklife and Bumbershoot this year. Its very exciting. Well y'all... for now, that's all I have to say, but, before I head back home to watch Anchorman and enjoy some homemade sushi, The Bradbury Press would like to thank all the folks we know in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas for hanging out with us. We'll see you again in September! Take care of yourselves!

04-29-05 Dear diary...last night I had a dream that I was in chico playing a show at lasalles, found out my dream was true. The show was good. Darren was screwing around on stage trying to do the roger rabbit and fell into some drums. We played a good set overall I give it a 7. Glad to be finishing up and heading home. Tonight we are at one of our favorite joints, the pastime club in truckee. Looking forward to tommorrows journal entry. See you all soon, SANCHEZ

04-28-05 Welcome to Freso! Its 2AM in the back parking lot of Club Fred. Its a symphony of snoring here on Shelly. Tonight was fun, but man were tired. It took about 2 hours to get from Bakersfield to Fresno. We made another trip to In N Out Burger on the way. (probably the last one before next tour). After arriving, we met up with a slew of folks we saw the last time we were down here including a singer songwriter named "David Lane", Lydia and Arden (the bartenders) and a gothic looking chick named Janell who runs the open mic once a week (this is funny). She was one of the first people we met the last time we came down and we actually chatted it up with her for a while, but she had no fricken clue who I was when I said hello. With a worried look on her face she asks me... "I'm sorry... we didn't... make out.... or something, did we?" LOL. I could have had some fun with that one, but I was straight with her and finally jogged her hazy memory. Anyway, the guys and I hung out at the bar for a while before eating at "Mings Chinese Restaraunt" next door. Its good food, but its a dirty place. I needed a bathroom, but I couldn't find one anywhere. The waiter points to the kitchen. I walked through the doors and an asian man, whackin up chicken smiles and points to a little bathroom which is right next to him and had no door. Quite intimate. So, we finished eating and went to the bar. The sound guy informs us that (for the second time) the other band isn't gonna show up and we'll need to play all night. Whatever. We set up and got to business. The stage sounds really good. Its covered in a bright blue shag carpet so it looks like they murdered cookie montster and nailed his pelt all over the place. Once again, the show was great. People seemed to enjoy themselves a lot. Tomorrow, we'll be in Chico. Two more shows to go before were home. - Darren
